Sony Launches Updated PS5 Pro in Japan: Quieter and Lighter

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially launched the updated PlayStation 5 Pro model CFI-7100B01 in Japan on December 23, 2025. This update follows the original PS5 Pro (CFI-7000B01) released in late 2024 and focuses on internal engineering improvements rather than a full model redesign.
The new PS5 Pro retains the same high-performance GPU, 2TB SSD, and AI-assisted PSSR upscaling as the previous model, ensuring graphics, load speeds, and frame rates remain consistent.

What sets the CFI-7100B01 apart is a quieter operation and lighter body. The console weighs approximately 3.0 kg, around 100 grams less than the previous version, and features a redesigned cooling system that significantly reduces fan noise during heavy gameplay. Enhanced energy efficiency also reduces heat and improves overall stability for long gaming sessions.
While current PS5 Pro owners may not need to upgrade immediately, first-time buyers in Japan will find the unchanged price of ¥119,980 for the improved, quieter, and lighter model an appealing option.
