Highguard Confirms 5v5 Mode Will Become a Permanent Gameplay Option

Highguard Confirms 5v5 Mode as a Permanent Feature
Wildlight Entertainment has announced that Highguard will officially retain its 5v5 gameplay mode as a permanent option, following positive feedback and strong player participation. The decision comes as developers observed that players were more comfortable with matches featuring larger team sizes.
Player Feedback Shapes the Future of Highguard
Despite an impressive launch that saw over 90,000 players on its first day and generally favorable early reviews, Highguard experienced a gradual decline in active players. One of the most common criticisms from the community centered on match scale, with many players feeling that the original 3v3 format felt too small for the game’s expansive maps.
In response, Wildlight Entertainment introduced a limited-time 5v5 mode shortly after launch. After closely monitoring player behavior and engagement, the studio found that participation levels in 5v5 matches were comparable to those of the standard mode.
From Limited Test to Permanent Mode
Within just three days, the development team decided to convert the 5v5 mode into a permanent gameplay option. According to the studio, the larger team format better complements map design and delivers a more satisfying combat experience for a significant portion of the player base.
The original 3v3 mode will remain available, giving players the freedom to choose their preferred style of play.
Balance Adjustments and Ongoing Content Plans
With the increase in players per match, Highguard has also received balance adjustments specifically tailored for 5v5 gameplay, including changes such as increased respawn opportunities to maintain match flow and fairness.
Looking ahead, Wildlight Entertainment has confirmed that new content will continue to roll out over the next 12 months, signaling ongoing support and long-term plans for the game.
