Crimson Desert highlights its global voice cast in new behind-the-scenes feature

Pearl Abyss showcases the voices behind Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has released a new behind-the-scenes video highlighting the voice actors who bring the world of Crimson Desert to life. Rather than focusing on gameplay, this feature turns attention to the performers whose voices shape the game’s emotional core.

The video spotlights the actors behind the characters Kliff, Ungar, and Damian. Each actor shares personal insights into their roles and explains how their experience helped transform these characters into believable figures within the game’s world.

Alec Newman on portraying Kliff

Alec Newman, who voices the protagonist Kliff, discusses his approach to portraying a reserved and composed warrior. He explains how subtle emotional shifts were key to showing Kliff’s gradual growth as he opens up to the members of the Greymane group.

Newman is internationally recognized for his work in major games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2, and Elden Ring. In addition, he received a Best Leading Actor award at the 2025 BAFTA ceremony, further cementing his reputation as a top-tier performer.

Giving Ungar depth and restraint

Stewart Scudamore, known for roles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Final Fantasy XVI, voices Ungar. In the interview, Scudamore explains how he balanced Ungar’s raw, primal energy with the character’s calm and controlled demeanor.

This balance helps Ungar stand out as more than a traditional brute, adding nuance to his personality and making him a memorable companion in the story.

Rebecca Hanssen as Damian

Rebecca Hanssen provides the voice for Damian. She brings experience from acclaimed titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Stellar Blade, and the television series The Witcher.

Her performance adds emotional weight and strength to Damian, contributing to the overall depth of the game’s cast.

Building emotional connection through performance

In Crimson Desert, players follow Kliff on a journey across a vast and dangerous world. Along the way, they encounter Ungar and Damian, both of whom are also playable characters. Thanks to the detailed performances and careful character interpretation by the voice cast, the game aims to deliver a more emotionally engaging experience.

Pearl Abyss emphasizes that voice acting plays a crucial role in grounding the fantasy setting and helping players connect with the characters on a human level.

Crimson Desert is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 20. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, Apple Mac, and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are now available through the official website.
