Resident Evil Requiem meme campaign targets Nissin cup noodles

Resident Evil Requiem launches viral Umbrella Noodles meme

In a surprising and hilarious marketing move, Resident Evil Requiem kicked off a viral meme campaign involving cup noodles. The Japanese social media account for the game claimed that Umbrella Corporation plans to take legal action against Nissin Foods.

The accusation? Allegedly copying “Umbrella Noodles.”

The joke lawsuit explained

According to the playful post, Umbrella Corporation already produced its own cup noodles. The so-called product features a white cup, bold red lettering, and the iconic corporate logo. Therefore, Umbrella claims that Nissin’s cup noodle design infringes on its intellectual property.

To escalate the joke further, the account stated that Umbrella filed the lawsuit in the courts of Raccoon City. Of course, fans immediately recognized the absurdity, since Raccoon City no longer exists in the Resident Evil timeline.

It gets better: Umbrella Noodles existed in-game

What makes the meme even funnier is that Umbrella-branded food items actually appeared in earlier titles. For example, players could find noodle-style consumables in Resident Evil Outbreak.

As a result, the marketing team cleverly blended in-universe lore with real-world branding. The campaign even included a mock product video describing ingredients and popularity.

Just a joke, not a real lawsuit

Before confusion spreads, this entire situation is a promotional gag. In reality, Nissin remains the genuine cup noodle pioneer. While Umbrella was “founded” in 1968 within the series lore, Nissin’s real-world instant noodle legacy predates most fictional biohazard corporations.

Ultimately, the stunt shows Capcom’s willingness to embrace humor during the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration. Rather than sticking to horror alone, the team leaned into community memes and brand parody.
