Former Rockstar Developer Warns GTA VI Fans: One More Delay Could Kill the Hype

A former Rockstar Games developer has issued a stark warning to fans eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI): one more delay could be enough to dampen the hype entirely.
GTA VI has been highly anticipated, with players and developers alike considering it a strong contender for Game of the Year. However, repeated delays from this year to mid-next year, and now to late 2026 have tested patience.
According to Dexerto, the ex-Rockstar animator emphasized that fans and developers have waited long enough. If the release is postponed again, the excitement surrounding the title could significantly diminish. He noted that the current timeline, one month after the year-end holidays, is strategically ideal as it aligns with peak spending periods.

The developer further explained that prolonged anticipation, paired with continual delay announcements, risks burnout among the fanbase. Past Rockstar projects, such as the remastered trilogy and Red Dead Redemption 2, already faced criticism over bugs, amplifying the stakes for GTA VI as it is Rockstar’s first major release in nearly a decade.
About Grand Theft Auto VI
GTA VI is an open-world action game following the story of Jason and Lucia, a man and woman embarking on a new life together. Their journey, however, draws them back into the dark underbelly of Vice City in Leonida, a city glowing with vibrant neon and scorching sunlight. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
Fans have been invited to discuss the implications of these delays and share their expectations for Rockstar’s next blockbuster.
