A former Rockstar Games developer has issued a stark warning to fans eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI): one more delay could be enough to dampen the hype entirely.

He noted that the current timeline, one month after the year-end holidays, is strategically ideal as it aligns with peak spending periods.
The developer further explained that prolonged anticipation, paired with continual delay announcements, risks burnout among the fanbase. Past Rockstar projects, such as the remastered trilogy and Red Dead Redemption 2, already faced criticism over bugs, amplifying the stakes for GTA VI as it is Rockstar’s first major release in nearly a decade.
