Resident Evil 4 Remake Faces Lag Issues After Denuvo Removal

PC players of Resident Evil 4 Remake are encountering significant lag issues following the removal of Denuvo DRM. While DRM programs are commonly used to prevent piracy, they often create a trade-off by impacting in-game performance.
What Happened

The game originally employed Denuvo DRM to protect against unauthorized copies. CAPCOM later removed it, replacing it with a new DRM solution. Unfortunately, this new system appears to consume even more CPU resources, leading to worse lag than before. Nearly a week has passed since the change, and no clear fix has been released yet.
Why Lag Occurs
DRM programs run continuously in the background to verify the game’s legitimacy. This process diverts processing power from the CPU, reducing the resources available for the game itself. As a result, players experience decreased performance and stuttering during gameplay. Fans are waiting to see how CAPCOM will address the issue in future updates.
Platforms and Story
Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game follows Leon S. Kennedy, a young agent tasked with rescuing the president’s abducted daughter in Spain. His investigation uncovers a mysterious cult and terrifying parasite experiments, blending action and horror into an intense survival experience.
