Rockstar Games Confirms GTA VI Development Unaffected by Studio Fire Incident

GTA fans were understandably concerned earlier this week after reports emerged of a fire at Rockstar North, one of the key studios under Rockstar Games currently involved in the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. The incident occurred on Monday, January 19, causing limited property damage at the studio facilities. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Given the scale and anticipation surrounding GTA VI, many players immediately worried about potential delays or disruptions to the game’s development schedule.

Rockstar Games Issues Official Statement

To address these concerns, a representative from Rockstar Games has since spoken with GamesIndustry, confirming that the situation is now fully under control. According to the statement, studio operations have already resumed as normal, and the development pipeline for GTA VI has not been affected in any way.

The company also expressed gratitude to the local emergency responders, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, as well as to fans who sent messages of support following the incident.

Cause of the Fire

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a malfunction related to a boiler system within the building. The damage was largely limited to parts of the facility and safety infrastructure, while essential development equipment and tools were not impacted.

Rockstar Games stated that repairs and safety checks are being handled promptly to ensure a secure working environment for staff moving forward.
