The Game Awards 2025 Sets New Record with 171M Viewers

The Game Awards 2025 has officially set a new record for viewership, reinforcing its status as a premier event in the gaming industry. The global broadcast drew 171 million live viewers, up from 154 million in 2024—an increase of roughly 11%. This figure accounts only for the main broadcast and does not include highlights, trailers, or paid platform streams, suggesting the actual interest may be even higher.

The event was streamed across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok Live, Steam, Facebook, X, Instagram Live, and local platforms in countries like China and India. Notably, 4K viewing saw an 8% increase in concurrent viewers compared to last year. Peak concurrent viewership, including co-streams, exceeded 2.4 million, while Twitch alone hit over 1.8 million concurrent viewers, a 5% rise from 2024.

Looking back to 2014, when The Game Awards had just 1.9 million viewers, the growth has been exponential, particularly in 2018 and 2020. In 2025, the event continued its upward trajectory, presenting major awards with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 taking home several top honors including Game of the Year. Other popular titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hades 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3 also received key awards, while numerous new game announcements and trailers generated widespread buzz.

The success of The Game Awards 2025 demonstrates the increasing global influence of gaming, not only as entertainment but as a major cultural and creative industry. With continued growth and engagement, the event remains a key focal point for fans worldwide and is expected to expand further in the coming years.
