IO Interactive has officially confirmed that 007 First Light will be delayed by approximately two months, pushing its release from March to May 27, 2026.
Touted as one of the biggest games welcoming the new year, 007 First Light marks the long-awaited return of the James Bond franchise to gaming. Developed by the studio behind the acclaimed HITMAN series, the game aims to deliver a high-octane spy action experience filled with cinematic set pieces and intense gameplay.
However, fans will need to wait just a little longer. The development team explained that the delay is necessary to further refine the game and ensure it meets their quality standards from day one.
Why the Release Was Pushed Back
According to IO Interactive, 007 First Light is the studio’s most ambitious project to date. The additional two months will be used to polish core gameplay elements, including:
- Action combat sequences
- Spy gadget mechanics
- Chase and stealth scenarios
- Overall performance and stability
While the game is already complete from start to finish, the extra development time will help strengthen the overall experience and support long-term success.
James Bond’s Origin Story
007 First Light tells an origin story of James Bond, following his early journey from an air force officer to a fully trained MI6 agent bearing the legendary 00 status.
Built using IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier Technology, the game features sandbox-style missions that allow players to approach objectives in multiple ways. Whether through stealth, direct confrontation, or clever gadget use, each mission can be adapted to individual playstyles. A modifier system also allows further customization for each scenario.
Platforms and Pre-order Information
The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Pre-orders are now available on Steam for 1,790 THB for the standard edition.
Players who pre-order will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive skins, weapons, and in-game items. A collector’s edition featuring a steelbook case and a special gold gun model inspired by the films has also been revealed.
