Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – Resurrect the Legend of the Hero Who Saved the World

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a remake that will take us back to the legendary classic once again. For the first game story, Players take on the role of a brave of the kingdom of Alefgrad who is tasked with saving the city from a demonic invasion and finding the princess who has been mastered by the dragon. Dragonlord captured Meanwhile, the second part is told a story that continues from the first part for a hundred years. It talks about the Prince of Midenhall who has to chase down the wizard Hargon who has destroyed the city.

On this occasion, the author has had the opportunity to go on an adventure with these two games and do not miss to bring a review for everyone to read.

Moreover… This review takes place on PS5, and readers will come back to read it later after this review has been published. Some of the observations may have been corrected.

Because this game has a total of 2 parts. The author would like to ask for permission to write an overview of the 2 games, not to detail them separately.

Beautiful graphics and classic soundtrack.

The first thing that impressed me from the beginning of the game was the beautiful graphics and were clearly recreated from the original. The forests look vibrant, and the battlefield changes depending on the area the player is exploring. Originally, in the original game, everything looked the same. These visual makeovers make the game world more realistic and visually appealing.

In addition, since the author plays on PS5, there are two graphics modes to choose from, namely Performance mode and Graphics, which provide quite a difference in terms of visuals. The author feels that there is no difference at all. Therefore, the author recommends playing in Graphics mode.

Not only the graphics. The soundtrack in the game has also been remarkably improved. By taking the original music and rearranging it with an orchestra. The music sounds clear and smooth, but it retains the classic 8-bit vibe of the original. In addition, the game has also added voiceovers. This game gives us a full experience of playing together. This combination of visuals and sound makes for a journey back to the familiar land of Dragon Quest filled with the kind of excitement and impressions that fans have. Old games not to be missed

An original JRPG adventure full of timeless charm

In terms of gameplay, this remake truly retains the uniqueness of the classic JRPG. Players will explore every corner of the city and dungeons. Find treasure chests hidden in the corners of walls, or even small bags lying along the way, where there are always hidden treasures. Talking to NPCs walking around the city also livens up the adventure, as those dialogues not only provide important clues, but also jokes and small stories that bring the game world to life.

The first part offers a truly solo adventure experience. Players must take on the role of a brave hero who goes out against demons and saves the world with the power of courage alone. It is a simple yet powerful charm that still imprints fans to this day. In the second part, the game expanded the combat style with a party system. This allows players to feel the cooperation of the brave and more complex strategies. Turn-based battle planning retains the original fun, but adds more depth and variety.

Whether it’s on a journey to hunt down the darkness as a lone hero, or fighting with your comrades to protect the kingdom. This game continues to prove the charm of traditional JRPGs. Warm and classic memories for all players.

Traditional combat that retains its charm

One of the things that makes this game stand out is that it retains the classic combat system beautifully. Players will face enemies standing in a row in front of them in the original “turn-based” manner. There are no slashing or jumping action animations like modern games. Instead, it was replaced by a floating attack effect. This may make the new generation of gamers feel a little strange. This is the “charm” that is most reminiscent of the golden age of RPGs.

Combat in the game is not just about attacking every day, but also about planning. Farm levels and collect items from monsters to prepare for brutal boss clashes, which means that this classic comes with an extraordinary challenge because if you are just a little careless, you may encounter the word “Game Over” over and over again. The author himself once missed into a fight without realizing that the boss was in front of him because there was no save point in this game. There are no rooms. There are no warnings at all!

However, the game also has an Auto-Save and Checkpoint system to help you not get too upset. If you miss a dead move on the way, you can start over from the last (almost) point, or if you know you have a chance, you can go back to the Rematch system without having to reset the entire scene.

Another point to admire is the Auto-Battle system, which allows us to customize the character’s battle style, such as Breakthrough mode, MP saving mode, or Heal-focused mode, making leveling up and hunting small monsters less boring. The system also forces players to press basic commands on each turn. If there is a little more “fully automatic” mode, This game would be even more fluid and convenient to play.

Storyline completions and details that make the game more complete.

One of the points that the author was very impressed with was the addition of the story and details that made many of the questions that were unsettling in the original game clearly answered, such as the author wondered why the king didn’t send an army to save the princess, but when he played the remake version, he realized that “it was sent, but I can’t fight!”

In addition, new content has been added to expand the story, allowing players to experience the perspective of the characters and events in more detail. These attention to detail is very obvious. It makes you feel like the development team has put their heart and love into this remake, both improving the story and adding new scenes. As a result, the game has a deeper dimension and is more enjoyable than the original.

And if you want to follow the whole story, you can do so by playing DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, then continue to play the first part and part 2.
