Instead of panic, however, the timeline filled with humor. Leave request forms, fake medical certificates, and Umbrella themed documents dominated group chats and community pages.

One of the most shared posts featured a redesigned leave form branded with Umbrella Corporation logos. Some versions even included mock doctor signatures and professional license numbers.

In addition, several users posted “medical certificates” stating that patients required rest at home and immediate exposure to Resident Evil Requiem for recovery. The creativity escalated quickly, and templates spread across gaming groups within hours.

Meanwhile, others combined weather radar screenshots with their themed leave letters. They humorously blamed unstable weather conditions for sudden symptoms.

National office sick day? Memes target the boss

The trend did not stop at documents. Short clips and memes soon followed.

One viral image showed medicine packets with the caption, “Third sick employee in the office today,” paired with a suspicious looking boss. Another meme used a Shrek reaction image, showing a fake conversation between an employee and a manager, before cutting to a Steam library screen.

Tech pages also joined the fun. Some posted crowd images styled like breaking news reports, joking that this was the number of people who called in sick for Day 1.

As the jokes intensified, players labeled February 27 as the day the “Raccoon City infection” spread across offices. Satirical advice circulated online: if you feel restless, distracted, and unable to focus after midnight, you may need one day of rest and at least two to three hours of gameplay.

Although clearly playful, the coordinated humor reflected genuine excitement. The community did not simply wait for reviews. Instead, they created a shared Day 1 experience together.
