Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Opens Alpha Test on PC, New Gameplay Revealed

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Alpha is Live
Owlcat Games, the acclaimed RPG studio behind titles set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, continues its momentum following the success of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The studio has officially announced the launch of the Alpha test for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy on PC, alongside the release of brand-new gameplay footage that offers a clearer look at the game’s direction.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Alpha Goes Live on PC
In Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, players take on the role of an agent of the Inquisition, a secretive organization tasked with eliminating threats to the Imperium of Man. The newly released gameplay footage highlights both the game’s tactical combat system and its investigative mechanics, set within the dangerous and secret-laden Calixis Sector. The atmosphere strongly reflects the grim and oppressive tone that defines the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Access to the Alpha test is currently available to players who have purchased the Developer’s Digital Pack or the Collector’s Edition on Steam. The Alpha build is listed separately from the main store page, and while Owlcat Games has yet to disclose full details regarding the playable content, the test was previously delayed slightly to ensure a smoother experience for participants.
As for the official release date, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy has not yet received a confirmed launch window. However, the game is scheduled to release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Owlcat Games is also actively developing another major project, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a third-person shooter RPG inspired by Mass Effect, which similarly offers early access through special edition packages.
