Resident Evil Switch 2 Rumor

Nintendo and CAPCOM have always had a strong relationship, bringing franchises like Monster Hunter, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney to the platform. However, when it comes to Resident Evil, fans have long noticed the lack of mainline entries launching day-one on Nintendo consoles since the GameCube era. Most of the time, players had to wait for ports or settle for spin-offs.

On the Nintendo Switch, several Resident Evil titles built on the RE Engine eventually arrived, but only through cloud versions that required constant internet connection. Despite the Switch’s support for RE Engine, the hardware limited native releases. With the rumored powerful specs of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, this may finally change, unlocking the possibility for horror fans to enjoy full versions directly on the device.

Industry insider AestheticGamer1, also known as Dusk Golem, hinted on social media that Resident Evil Requiem and post-Resident Evil VII entries may launch on Nintendo’s new hybrid console as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration next year. CAPCOM has already shown strong support for the system by announcing Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess for Switch 2, a true next-gen title. This raises the chances of Resident Evil finally making its full presence felt on the platform.

While Resident Evil VII could be relatively easy to bring over, Requiem may take more work. For now, these remain rumors, but one thing is clear: Switch 2’s upgraded specs are designed to handle bigger games. With large-scale next-gen titles like Cronos: New Dawn and Star Wars: Outlaws confirmed to run smoothly on the device, expectations for CAPCOM’s survival horror series landing natively are higher than ever.
