ASUS Unveils ROG NeoCore, Taking the First Step into the WiFi 8 Era

ASUS has officially introduced ROG NeoCore, a new router concept designed to support the upcoming WiFi 8 standard, alongside the world’s first public demonstration of real-world WiFi 8 performance. During its latest networking briefing, ASUS Networking also confirmed plans to launch a full lineup of WiFi 8 routers and mesh systems for consumers within 2026, marking a major milestone in the transition toward next-generation wireless networking.

ROG NeoCore is developed under the vision of “Smarter Spectrum, Better Experience,” combining proprietary technologies such as ASUS AiMesh and the ASUS AI Network Engine to deliver more intelligent signal management. Rather than focusing solely on peak theoretical speeds, this new direction prioritizes stability, responsiveness, and consistency, which are critical in the AI era where multiple connected devices operate simultaneously across a single network.

According to ASUS, WiFi 8 is not simply a speed upgrade, but a fundamental architectural redesign aimed at strengthening network reliability. The standard targets four key challenges, including reducing speed degradation over longer distances, improving communication reliability for low-power smart home devices, and maintaining stable connections in environments with heavy signal interference, a growing issue in modern residential and urban settings.

For users living in condominiums or high-density residential areas, WiFi 8 is expected to play a crucial role by leveraging intelligent spectrum coordination to minimize interference from neighboring routers. At the same time, dynamic signal scheduling helps alleviate network congestion, resulting in significantly lower latency and higher overall data throughput within the same time frame.

What impressed early testers most was the real-world performance data showcased by ASUS. When comparing WiFi 7 and WiFi 8, theoretical speed figures appeared relatively close, yet WiFi 8 demonstrated clear advantages in practical usage. Medium-range data transmission performance was shown to be up to twice as fast, support for IoT devices increased by up to two times, and latency under heavy load conditions was reduced by as much as six times.

Tenlong Deng, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of ASUS Wireless and Networking, stated that WiFi 8 is about making every connection smarter and more dependable, whether for AI assistants, cloud services, or everyday digital experiences. The debut of ROG NeoCore reinforces ASUS’s leadership in networking innovation and signals its readiness to guide users into the next generation of wireless connectivity with confidence.
